Watch this CNC video as we create an adjustable height workbench using Amana Tool® Compression Spiral CNC Router Bits and Aluminum Laminate Flush Trimming Spiral Router Bits.

Designed by Joni Steiner & Nick Ierodiaconou from Opendesk, Lift Standing Desk is built using 3/4" thick, 11-Ply Baltic Birch and 1/16" thick Aluminum Laminate. The laminate will be applied to the desktop and then flush trimmed to size using a hand held trimmer router.

Our CNC machinist uses Amana Tool's solid carbide CNC router bits no’s 46227 and 46170 in a Shop Sabre 4896 CNC Machine to make all of the plywood cuts. For trimming the aluminum laminate, he turned to Amana Tool no. 51430. This InVectra™ Series, solid carbide spiral router bit is designed and tested for trimming all aluminum laminate and is recommended by Formica® & ATI®.

Step #1
Amana Tool's Solid Carbide Spiral Flute Plunge CNC Router Bit No. 46227 cuts the guide holes that will be used later during assembly.

Step #2
Using Amana Tool Solid Carbide Compression Spiral CNC Router Bit No. 46170, the legs and frame are each cut from the Baltic Birch Plywood.

Step #3
Once all the components were cut, we used Amana's Aluminum Laminate Flush Trimming Spiral Router Bit no. 51430 to flush trim the laminate along our desktop using a hand held trimmer router.
