Watch as we create Fin Lockers in 3/4” thick, 11-Ply, Baltic Birch using Amana Tool® industrial solid carbide, insert solid carbide and Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) tipped CNC router bits in a Shop Sabre 4896 CNC Machine.

Designed as a hub for workspace by Scarlett San Martin for Opendesk, these 48” wide x 44” high x 16” deep lockers can be used as employee storage in an office, a gym locker room or your very own workshop. The Lockers can be grouped together or act as standalone pieces.

Step #1
We cut the legs and other shapes using Amana Tool Solid Carbide Spiral Flute Plunge, Downcut Router Bit #46202.

Step #2
The perimeter of the locker doors and frame are cut using the Amana Tool Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) Tipped Compression CNC Router Bit with Carbide Plunge Point #DRB-200. The PCD tipped tooling allows for longer cutting life than carbide tipped and solid carbide tooling, provides a consistent component surface finish and is optimized for machine tool efficiency.

Step #3
Lettering to identify each locker is engraved using Amana Tool V-Groove, Miter Fold & Signmaking Insert Solid Carbide CNC Router Bit #RC-1102.

Step #4
Amana Tool’s Compression Solid Carbide Spiral CNC Router Bit #46170 was used to finish the perimeter cuts where the #DRB-200 could not reach due to the larger 1/2” diameter.
