Watch as we build a custom Electric Guitar from 8/4 Ash using the electrical components from a Epiphone Les Paul Special guitar.

Step 1) The 1-5/8" thick guitar body and neck is cut to shape using the Amana Tool Solid Carbide 1/4" Dia Spiral Flute Plunge Up-Cut Router Bit #46102. The outer body is only cut 1/4" deep as to save time and then David finishes cutting all the way through using a band saw.

Amana Tool #46102

Feed Rate (IPM): 100
Speed Rate (RPM): 18,000
Depth per Pass: 0.1"

Step 2) Flush trim (with a pre-cut template) using router bit comparable to Amana Tool Solid Carbide Spiral Trim Router Bit w/ Double Ball Bearing Router Bit #46300.

Amana Tool #46300

Step 3) Round Over the top and bottom face using router bit comparable to Amana Tool Carbide Tipped 1/4" Radius Corner Round Router Bit #49504. This provides a clean, beveled edge on the guitar body. A turbo plane and belt sander then removes the material for the arm contour.

Step 4) Cut the white 3-ply pick guard material using Amana Tool Carbide Tipped 60° V-Groove Router Bit #45705.

Amana Tool #45705

Feed Rate (IPM): 30
Speed Rate (RPM): 18,000
