Aluminum Composite Material (ACM)

Abbreviation for “computer numerical control.” Computer numerical control refers to automation of machines or tools that are guided or operated by abstract commands programmed unto a computer.

CNC Boring Bits

Cutting and abrasive implements at the end of a CNC router spindle that gouge out wood to create architectural detail, refine forms or establish features. CNC carving bits therefore include roughing and shaping bits, the actual carving bits that make shapes and forms, and detailing bits that finesse the texture. Bits are V-shaped, ballnose, endmills, PCB end mills, and PCB drill bits.
These bits cut into the wood at an angle, usually leaving 45° profiles. Some shapes that they leave are called V-groove, bevel and dovetail.

CNC Compression Honeycomb Cutting Solid Carbide Router Bits

Abrasive finishing tools that smooth out ‘burrs’ or ragged edges that are made when metals, wood or other materials are fused together. Deburring tools provide a ‘finessing’ job.
CNC Diamond Drag Engraving Bit
These are diamond-tipped cutting and engraving implements that work with the router spindle turned off. Instead, the spring-loaded head applies constant pressure on the diamond tip that the router spindle drags across the surface (so that the pressure on the hard material creates an impression on the surface). This bit is used to create precise and permanent lines. Signatures, company logos, artwork, serial numbers or decorative detail on glass, mirrors, granite tiles, plaques, trophies or even unto products can be engraved using this bit.
Bits used to cut an angular (less than 90° but more than 45°) tongue-and-groove cut on the edge of the material to mimic the tail of a dove. This cut is also preferred to make joints.
A series of tails and pins that interlock and are trapezoidal in shape (as opposed to finger joints that are rectangular in shape).
Drilling implements that make dadoes (square-shaped mortises) while pushing down the chips downward; hence, leaving a rough bottom edge while making a smooth top edge. Up-cut bits are similar but achieve the opposite effect.

A system of using bits that are ‘inserted’ into the work head instead of being permanently welded to it. When bits have worn down, they can easily be removed from the groove of the work head and replaced with newer ones, instead of taking out the entire assembly.

A gouged out recess (a dado, groove or slot) on the surface of the material made by a CNC router.
Also called a CNC mortising machine, it is a tool that gouges out wood or other material to make a recess that receives a tenon (protruding joint).

A CNC (computer numerical control) router tool creates objects from wood. Parts of a project are designed in the computer with a CAD/CAM program, and then cut automatically using a router to produce a finished part. The CNC router works like a printer, but uses a cutting tool instead of an ink jet. Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer

ZrN Coating
Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) is a hard ceramic material similar to titanium nitride and is a cement-like refractory material. When applied using the physical vapor deposition coating process it is commonly used for coating medical devices, industrial parts (notably drill bits), aerospace components and other parts subject to high wear and corrosive environments.
