Powermatic 209BHH 20" Helical Head Thickness Planer – Single-Phase Power, Industrial Capacity
The Powermatic 209BHH is a heavy-duty 20-inch stationary thickness planer designed for professional woodworking shops, cabinet makers, and furniture manufacturers that require greater capacity than traditional 15-inch planers. Powered by a robust 5 HP, 230V single-phase motor, the 209BHH delivers the cutting power needed to process wide panels, thick stock, and dense hardwoods without sacrificing performance.
Its four-row helical cutterhead features 68 four-sided carbide inserts operating at 5,200 RPM, producing exceptionally smooth surfaces with reduced tearout and significantly quieter operation than conventional straight-knife cutterheads. Individual inserts can be rotated or replaced independently, reducing maintenance costs and minimizing downtime.
The integrated digital readout (DRO) provides accurate, repeatable thickness measurements for consistent results across operators and production runs. Dual feed speeds of 16 FPM and 28 FPM allow users to choose between premium finish quality and faster material removal, making the machine equally suited for finish planing and high-volume stock preparation.
Large cast iron infeed and outfeed tables provide a combined 51-1/2-inch support surface that resists flexing and dampens vibration when handling oversized workpieces. A 4-inch bi-directional dust port supports flexible dust collection configurations and efficient chip evacuation with a minimum airflow requirement of 900 CFM.
Enhanced safety and usability features include an oversized emergency stop button and an upgraded caster locking and braking system for secure operation and convenient repositioning. Replacing the popular 209HH, the Powermatic 209BHH is backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty for long-term confidence in demanding shop environments.
