CNC Sign Making in Carbon Fiber with Amana Tool® Spektra™ Coated Router Bits Video
For Your Safety
- The methods illustrated here are only intended for use with a CNC Machine.
- Make certain that the workpiece is secured and that all components of the fixture are securely fastened to the table.
- Use a guard, eye and hearing protection at all times.
We asked David and Katharina von den Driesch from Design by KD if they would like to work with us on producing a sign making video. Cutting the Spektra™ logo into carbon fiber would provide useful insight into material challenges.
‘We were delighted when ToolsToday asked us to produce this video, as our business started purely as a hobby and we were proud that our contributions to the ToolsToday community were rated so highly”, said David.
First, David glued the custom blue colored, 1/16” thick carbon fiber sheet to the 3/4" thick plywood. He uses a variety of Solid Carbide Engraving, Composite, Compression Spiral, Down Spiral and V-Groove Router Bits to produce this sign. Full details on CNC running parameters and item numbers can be viewed below.
Spektra™ bits feature a nACo® nanocomposite coating with an extreme nanohardness and heat resistance. With a brilliant, distinctively-tinted coloring, nACo provides additional improvements in critical aspects of router tooling which results in extreme tool longevity and cuts of the highest quality.
