Watch as Tyson Moore cuts aluminum and acrylic on his Shapeoko CNC machine using Amana Tool®’s 1/16”, 1/8” and 1/4” diameter Solid Carbide Router Bits to make this #teamTOOLSTODAY sign.
When cutting acrylic, the up-cut bits pull the chips up evacuating them from the cut where a down-cut bit forces the acrylic chips down and can potentially melt them together. Evacuating the chips better reduces any excess friction caused by the chips resulting in less of a chance of melting the acrylic. Top edge will stay crisp with an up-cut bit in acrylic.
Tyson says "This is the first time ever cutting aluminum on the CNC it was a bit messy but things went pretty smooth for the most part. These bits are rated to be able to handle more than I threw at them but I wanted to slow things down since this was my first time. I really enjoyed test cutting and carving into this orange acrylic”.
